A novel scheme for single-switch open-circuit faults (OCFs) detection and localization in three-phase dual active bridge (DAB) converters is presented. To detect these faults, the proposed control scheme leverages existing current sense resistors, commonly used for current regulation purposes. This approach minimizes the need for additional sensing and processing resources compared to state-of-the-art techniques The solution is validated using a 400-V, 4-kW liquid-cooled converter using 650-V GaN devices switching at 300kHz. Experimental results demonstrate successful single-switch OCF detection within 4 switching cycles.
