An accurate position of the rotor magnetic field is critical for the success of FOC for IPMSM in the e-drive application. The paper proposes a back electromotive force (BEMF) based approach commanding the pulsating current to eliminate the effect of inverter dead-time on the estimation of resolver offset (RO). The results show that the proposed approach successfully eliminates the effect of dead time on the estimation of RO, and estimation accuracy is much higher than the method employing zero current command. The simulation results are experimentally verified by the dynamometer test.
