This paper analyzes the double pulsing effect (DPE) based on vector diagram in motor drives with variable modulation Techniques. The overvoltage resulting from voltage reflection is analyzed in a long transmission line between an inverter and a motor. The DPE region is compared and analyzed through voltage vector diagrams of different modulation techniques. A minimum modulation index and an on-time of a zero-voltage vector are considered to generalize the DPE region where Double Pulsing occurs. The validity of the analysis on the DPE region with variable modulation techniques is verified through simulation and experimental results. Additional experimental results and deep analysis under various conditions will be added in the final paper.
