Thomas LaBella, Ph.D., is a systems engineer at Texas Instruments where he is responsible for defining the next generation isolated gate drivers for high voltage applications. He has been with Texas Instruments since 2014. While at TI he has also had roles as an R&D systems engineer in Kilby Labs as well as a systems engineer defining next generation products in the 12V point-of-load converter product line. Prior to joining TI, he received the B.S., M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in electrical engineering from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University (Virginia Tech), Blacksburg, VA, USA, in 2009, 2011, and 2014 respectively. He has authored or co-authored 10 IEEE papers, been granted 9 US Patents, and won 5 IEEE awards and recognitions including Power Electronics Society Transactions Second Prize Paper Award, APEC best presentation award, ECCE Best Student Demonstration award, International Future Energy Challenge (IFEC) Grand Prize and Outstanding Performance Award.
