Chair of Energy Conversion, TU Dortmund
M.Sc. Lukas Knappstein is a Research Assistant and PhD student at the Chair of Energy Conversion, headed by Prof. Martin Pfost, at TU Dortmund University. He earned both his bachelor's degree (2017) and master's degree (2021) in Electrical Engineering and Information Technology from the same institution.
His PhD research focuses on optimizing dead times in half-bridge circuits, while his broader research interests include measurement electronics and algorithms. He has developed extensive expertise in FPGAs, ADCs, and high-frequency PCB design. Furthermore, he possesses in-depth knowledge of operational amplifiers, with particular emphasis on parasitic effects.
Driven by his personal passion for electrical engineering—both within the university setting but also beyond—he brings a wealth of practical insights to his teaching. This enables him to captivate students during internships, tutorials, and lectures, inspiring their enthusiasm for the subject. One of his key areas of interest is high-fidelity audio applications, which has led to the development of two highly popular lab courses at the Chair.
