Delta Electronics
Peter Barbosa received the Ph.D. degree in electrical engineering from Virginia Tech in 2002. Between 2001 and 2003, he was CPES Technical Director. Between 2003 and 2007, he was with ABB Corporate Research, Switzerland, as member of the Research Staff and Group Leader where he introduced the concept of hybrid multilevel converters which have been implemented into ABB’s medium voltage drives. From 2008 to 2019, he was with Delta Electronics, Taiwan, in various technology roles including but not limited to developing technology for high efficiency telecom power converters and responsible for establishing a product design team in China for medium voltage drives. Since 2019, he has been the R&D Director of Delta’s Milan M. Jovanovic Power Electronics Lab (MPEL), Raleigh, USA, working on new technologies to improve the performance of power converters for EV-related power systems, high density converter designs and solid state transformers for future data center power systems and extreme DC fast chargers.
