Renata Rezende da Costa Reis Kimpara is currently a R&D Assistant with the Grid Systems Architecture Group at Oak Ridge National Laboratory. Renata was born in Campo Grande, Brazil. She earned her B.S. and M.S. degrees in electrical engineering from the Federal University of Mato Grosso do Sul (UFMS) in Campo Grande, Brazil, in 2019 and 2022, respectively.
Prior to joining ORNL, she worked as a researcher at BATLAB - Power Electronics and Drives, Artificial Intelligence, and Energy Systems Laboratory at UFMS, where she worked on decision systems utilizing flexible computation. Her projects included developing data-driven models, applying AI-based optimization techniques, and implementing hardware for power electronics converters and machine drives.
Her research interests span power electronics applications for electrical grids and power systems, artificial intelligence, and the design and operation of electric machines and drives.
