Dr Simon Round, Corporate Executive Engineer, Hitachi Energy
Simon Round has over 30 years of experience in developing and applying power electronic converters to control the electrical power grid, both as an academic and working in industry. For the last 16 years, he has worked for ABB and now Hitachi Energy in global technology management roles for power conversion and microgrids. He is currently a Corporate Executive Engineer for Power Electronics and Digital in the Business Unit Grid Integration, where he is responsible for the technology vision for new SiC based LV power converters. Previously, he was a Professor at the University of Canterbury in New Zealand for 9 years, and with ETH Zurich for 4 years as a Senior Researcher. Simon has published over 100 journal and conference papers, ranging from active harmonic filters to SiC based converters. He received his Ph.D. degree in 1993 from the University of Canterbury, New Zealand and is an IEEE Senior Member.
