Frédéric Richardeau holds a Bachelor's, Master's, and Agrégation degree from ENS Paris-Cachan (1992) and completed his Ph.D. at Toulouse INP in 1996. He joined CNRS as a Research Scientist in 1997. His research interests include the global reliability and diagnosis of power devices, fail-safe and fault-tolerant converters, and multicell and multilevel converters. From 2009 to 2015, he led the Static Converter team at the Laboratoire Plasma et Conversion d'Energie (LAPLACE), a joint research unit of the University of Toulouse and CNRS. Currently a CNRS Senior Scientist and Director of Research at the LAPLACE laboratory, his work focuses on the robustness, failure modes, and protection of wide-bandgap power devices, as well as health-monitoring smart gate drivers for reconfigurable and integrated critical converters. He was elevated to IEEE Senior Member status in 2021.
