Dr Jun Wang is a Senior Lecturer with the Electrical Energy Management Group (EEMG) at the University of Bristol (UoB). Dr Wang proposed the Triple Pulse Test (TPT) concept in 2017, a novel testing procedure, to characterize the loss behaviours of magnetic components in a large-signal, in-situ manner. The TPT has drawn wide interests and collaborations from the industry, due to its low-cost, large-signal and automation features. As the PI, Dr Wang has been leading the initiative on component-based testing for power magnetics funded by the research council in the UK. Dr Wang has also explored the application of Machine Learning (ML) techniques to solve the complex modeling problem and additive manufacturing (AM) technologies for high-frequency soft magnetic cores. The ML modelling approach developed by Dr Wang’s team won the 3rd Place Prize on performance in the MagNet Challenge 2023.
