Presentation Description: This paper presents a novel control technique to reduce the synchronous rectification (SR) FET Spike in a flyback converter, especially during continuous conduction mode (CCM) operation, and induce zero voltage switching (ZVS) of the primary power switch to increase efficiency. An auxiliary switch is used to reduce or eliminate the spike on the SR FET. In addition to SR spike reduction/elimination. To validate the proposed control technique, a prototype was built to demonstrate the performance of the proposed circuit. The test results confirm the reduction in SR FET spike as well as ZVS operation of the primary power switch.
