Presentation Description: This presentation shows a solution for the motor drive applications based on SiC MOSFETs with ultra-high efficiency (>98.5%) at the switching frequency of 16kHz. A three-phase, six-switch inverter based on SiC MOSFETs or Si IGBT is built to compare the ability to drive an industrial motor at 3000 rpm and 11kW in this work. Thanks to SiC MOSFETs' lower switching and conduction losses, SiC MOSFETs can also operate at higher frequencies than traditional Si IGBTs in motor drive applications, making SiC one of the most promising and competitive candidates for motor drive applications to achieve the ultra-high efficiency and performance.
