Khai D. T. Ngo (S’82 - M’84 - SM’02 - F’15) received the B.S. degree from California State Polytechnic University, Pomona, in 1979, and the M.S. and Ph.D. degrees from the California Institute of Technology, Pasadena, in 1980 and 1984, respectively, all in electrical and electronics engineering.
He is currently a Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Virginia Tech. He was a Member of Technical Staff at General Electric Corporate Research and Development Center, Schenectady, NY, from 1984 to 1988. Between 1988 and 2006, he was with the University of Florida, Gainesville.
At Virginia Tech, he pursues technologies for integration and packaging of power passive and active components to realize building blocks for power electronic systems. These technologies lead to power conversion systems with higher efficiency and higher power density. He also focuses on topologies, control, emission, and integration issues for RF power converters. Other research interests include magnetic materials and components, energy reclamation, and power integrated circuits.
