Nil Patel (SMIEEE) received a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from Gujarat Technological University, Gujarat, India, in 2014. He received his master’s degree in Electrical Engineering with a specialization in Power Electronics, Machines, and Drives from the Institute of Technology, Nirma University, India, in 2016. He is completed his Ph.D. degree in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) at Gina Cody School of Engineering and Computer Science at Concordia University, Montreal, QC, Canada. He is currently a Postdoctoral Research Fellow Associate with the Australian Renewable Energy Agency (ARENA) at RMIT University, Melbourne, Australia.
Dr. Patel received the Gold Medal for securing the highest academic standing for his bachelor's studies in 2014. Also, He was a recipient of the “Shri Devang Mehta IT Award”, for his academic excellence during his undergraduate in 2014. He received the Hitachi R&D Award for his outstanding work in his master's thesis in 2016, the Concordia University International Award of Excellence, Concordia Merit Scholarship, and Carolyn Renaud Teaching Assistantship during his Ph.D.
His research interests include high-density power conversion using wide-bandgap-based devices, IC Design and verification, converter control techniques, wireless power transfer, and AI and machine learning techniques for applications such as renewable energy systems, transportation electrification, consumer electronics, pulsed-power, telecommunications, etc.
